Session of the month


This is one of 1000 training sessions from the Feeton curriculum. This month, a training session for the age category U13/U19. Each training session in the curriculum has a concrete goal.

The goal of this training session is end product from the build up play

Organization:


Practice Receiving and Proceeding with the Ball


  • Players practice in couples to receive ball (Outside Foot)


Coaching Points:

  • Have the ball passed to you.
  • Take a step towards the ball and use the outside of your right foot that is (half instep, half outside) to one-touch the ball to the right side, and then immediately follow after the ball.
  • Bend your knees and move your body in the direction of the ball when one touching so that you have better feel for and control of the ball.

Organization:

  1. A passes to B.
  2. B receives and turns.
  3. B passes to C.
  4. 5 give and go.

Rotation:

  • A goes to B
  • B goes to C
  • C dribbles to starting point.

Coaching Points:

  • Make sure that you slow down the ball whilst controlling it.
  • Do not let the ball bounce off your feet.
  • Control the ball so that you can pass it into any direction.
  • Control the ball so that you can pass it or dribble. (open first touch)
Hint: 14 players. Set up 2 stations.

Organization:


  1. A passes to B and follows his pass.
  2. B lays off the ball for player A.
  3. A passes the ball to C.
  4. C turns and strikes on goal.


Coaching Points:

  • Good solid passes, play in 1 touch if possible.
  • Good timed movement and runs. (don't get there too early)
  • Good shooting form leaning forward through the ball, and landing on the kicking foot.
Hint: 12 - 14 players. Set up 2 stations.

Rules:

  • Play 3 vs. 2 with a 4th attacker as target player.
  • Other players be ready between 2 small goals.
  • Target player can be used after 4 passes.
  • Player who passes to target player receives ball and scores in large goal.
  • If player can not pass to target player, coach passes the ball to a player who can pass the ball to target player and finish. (Without combination play)
  • Player who shoots becomes target player.
  • Target player gets the ball and goes to starting point.
  • Next player in line restarts play.
  • Rotate defenders after a goal.
Endgame -> Connect to Halfway - Line

Organisation:
  • Make 2 equal teams (with or without goalkeepers)
  • Create a halfway line with 4 cones.
  • The goal only counts, at the time of scoring, if the entire team is over the halfway line.
  • Or: Goal counts double if everyone on the team is over the halfway line.

Game rules:

  • When the ball is out of play: dribbling in or passing in.
